How to UPLOAD your mod to the Steam Workshop.

How to upload your mod to the Steam Workshop!

Find your module binder

Start out by finding your mod that you lot've made by going to your module folder. The module folder is located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MountBlade Warband\Modules

Copy your modernistic binder into the root directory.

Correct click on your mod folder and select re-create, become dorsum to your root binder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MountBlade Warband\) and right click - paste your mod folder.

Find the input.ini file

In your root directory, observe and open the input.ini file. Afterward opening the file, edit the lines

module_title =

file_module_name =

These MUST BE THE SAME Exact Proper noun Every bit YOUR MODULE FOLDER! (If I made a mod chosen testing, I would do the post-obit:

module_title = testing

file_module_name = testing

If you exercise not put the verbal proper name, your mod will not upload. SAVE input.ini and exit out of information technology.

Image File

Your workshop image preview file should be around 512 ten 414 px. I'm sure whatsoever size would actually work, but mine has never caused an issue.

Just open up upwards MS Pigment, or whatsoever plan you want to do, design a preview image, and and then salvage it to your root directory as a .png.

Your prototype preview file should go into your default Mount & Blade install directory and Non your module directory

Directory layout

This is the listing of files that you should have in your Mountain & Blade directory (\Steam\steamapps\common\MountBlade Warband\)

Since I used the example module folder "testing", I'll use it hither. In that location are three must-haves in your Mount & Blade directory for the uploader to piece of work

  • Testing (your module folder with the contents of your modern)
  • input.ini
  • YourImageName.png

Fourth dimension for the CMD!

Time to bring you way back! The Command Prompt must be used hither. On Windows x, in your root directory, click on a file that is non a folder (something like dbghelp.dll), go to File -> Command Prompt -> Open Command Prompt.

Why exercise you have to click on a file first? If you click on a folder, the control prompt will open in the folder your take selected - which you practice not want.

If you take Windows 8 or beneath, Go to First -> Search -> cmd

If you go the search -> cmd road, you'll have to type in by paw to get to your Mountain & Blade directory.. Y'all must type cd showtime (change directories), then a space, then the path to your root directory.

Now:

Where YourImageName.png is, patently put the name of the prototype file you made for the mod (it's your modules image shown on the Workshop)

mbw_workshop_uploader.exe publish -modern input.ini -icon YourImageName.png

Hit enter and your modernistic should now upload. Yous MUST be logged into your Steam Client. If the upload nonetheless does non piece of work, download SteamCMD and extract it to your root folder, and run the file (it'll download files needed for SteamCMD).

Your modernistic is uploaded, now what?

The easiest way I've establish to discover your workshop file is to go to your Steam profile and await for your "workshop submissions" (located under the Mountain & Blade Warband image, next to your screenshots, etc).

Ane you've found your workshop submission, you may now edit it to your hearts desire (description, etc). Practise NOT FORGET to brand the visibility public when you're set up to have the public play your modernistic.

I promise this guide helps.

Update your mod

To update your modernistic, echo the steps (copy - paste, then get to your cmd).

This time you'll type

mbw_workshop_uploader.exe update -mod input.ini -id YourModIDHere -icon YourImageName.png -changes Your Modify Notes Go Hither.

To get your mod ID, become to your workshop particular and look at the URL. Information technology'll say what your mod id is. For example, the url for my Vexed Modern is

My modernistic id is 525505426, so my upload would expect like this

mbw_workshop_uploader.exe update -modernistic input.ini -id 525505426 -icon YourImageName.png -changes I updated this today!

Errors:

Help! I'm getting an "The extention .png is not valid" error!

Solution - You take an actress copy of icon.png in your mod folder. When you lot delete this icon.png, the upload should piece of work.
