Code42 (CrashPlan) Basics


What is Code42 (CrashPlan)?

Is Code42 (CrashPlan) replacing Google Drive?

No.  Code42 (CrashPlan) is a data backup solution, not intended to exist used for storage or archiving purposes.  It is meant to securely fill-in data and recover information technology when necessary. Google Drive, on the other hand, is for storing and sharing files, and archiving them for long durations. It also provides the ability for quick anytime access and group collaboration of online files.

Can I use Code42 (CrashPlan) on my personal reckoner?

The institutional version of Code42 (CrashPlan) is not available for personal use.

Do I need to be on campus for my data to be backed up?

No. Code42 (CrashPlan) will automatically backup your data as long as your figurer is connected to the cyberspace from anywhere.

Where is the data stored?

The data is redundantly and securely stored on the Code42 (CrashPlan) Cloud environment.

Which folders does information technology backup?

Code42 (CrashPlan) will but backup files in the user's home directory:

No.  This feature is not user configurable.
